Role Overview
The Duty Doctor is responsible for providing round-the-clock medical care to patients in a hospital or healthcare facility. This includes emergency response, inpatient monitoring, and coordination with specialists to ensure timely and effective treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct initial consultations, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order diagnostic tests.
- Treatment & Medication: Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions; prescribe and administer medications as per protocols.
- Emergency Response: Provide immediate care during medical emergencies, including resuscitation and stabilization.
- Inpatient Care: Monitor admitted patients, perform regular rounds, and update treatment plans as needed.
- Basic Procedures: Perform minor medical procedures (e.g., suturing, wound care, catheterization) within scope of practice.
- Coordination: Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and allied healthcare professionals for comprehensive care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the hospital system.
- Infection Control: Adhere to hospital infection control and safety protocols.
- Patient Education: Counsel patients and families on treatment plans and preventive care.
Qualifications
- Education: MBBS (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- License: Valid medical registration in India.
- Experience: 0–3 years (freshers with internship experience may apply).
- Certifications: BLS and ACLS preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Team player with good decision-making ability.
- Familiarity with hospital protocols and EHR systems.
