Role Overview

The General Manager – Non-Medical Operations is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all non-clinical functions of the hospital to ensure seamless operations, high-quality patient experience, and compliance with organizational standards. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, and coordination with clinical teams to deliver efficient and cost-effective services.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Develop and implement department-wise operating policies to enhance patient care and retention.
  • Oversee infrastructure growth, recruitment, performance reviews, budgeting, and accounting for non-medical departments.
  • Ensure smooth information flow among all key departments for efficient operations.
  • Establish and monitor Management Information Systems (MIS) for reporting and problem-solving.
  • Define and track service quality parameters and ensure adherence to SOPs.

People & Training

  • Conduct regular training sessions for reporting departments and general staff development programs.
  • Participate in staff welfare activities, career planning, and growth initiatives.
  • Finalize Key Result Areas (KRAs) and performance metrics for departmental staff.

Collaboration with Medical Teams

  • Work closely with clinical and professional staff to develop and implement policies for high-quality, cost-effective care.
  • Ensure effective communication between operations and medical administration.

Financial & Strategic Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor annual operating plans and budgets.
  • Identify and develop revenue-generating programs from autonomous departments.
  • Control operational costs and improve efficiency across service lines.

Branding & Patient Experience

  • Monitor patient-related services to ensure a high customer satisfaction index.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams for branding and digital campaigns.
  • Represent the hospital at external forums to build a positive brand image.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospital Administration / Business Management; MBA or PG in Healthcare Management preferred.
  • Experience: 10–15 years in hospital operations with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and strategic planning abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets.
    • Knowledge of hospital quality standards and accreditation processes.
